About the Cover

Today we have a wealth of global biological safety associations and working groups to include: African Biosafety Association, American Biological Safety Association, ABSA-Canada, Asia-Pacific Biosafety Association, Biosafety Association of Central Asia and the Caucuses, Biosafety Association of Pakistan, European Biosafety Association, Israeli Biological Safety Association, Japanese Biosafety Association, National Biosafety Association of Brazil, Philippines Biosafety and Biosecurity Association, Taiwan Biological Safety Association, and the Thailand Biosafety Working Group. Several other countries are in the process of formalizing biosafety associations as this journal goes to print. The formation of these associations plays a vital role for networking and mentoring opportunities of biosafety professionals worldwide. The world is now faced with fast moving pandemics (H1N1), unprecedented rates of global research collaboration, and the construction of numerous high containment laboratories. It becomes increasingly important to find new and better ways to provide more, and more effective, training and mentoring capabilities to biosafety professionals worldwide to promote biosafety and biosecurity and grow the profession to meet global needs. See the Guest Editorial on page 66 to learn more about biosafety on an international level.
