Continuing Education and Training Units
The American Biological Safety Association has been approved as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), 1760 Old Meadow Road, Suite 500, McLean, VA 22102; (703) 506-3275. In obtaining this approval, the American Biological Safety Association has demonstrated that it complies with the ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard which is recognized internationally as a standard of good practice. As a result of their Authorized Provider membership status, the American Biological Safety Association is authorized to offer IACET CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard.
ABSA offers a number of opportunities for professionals to acquire CEU's. We offer distance learning courses (Webinars), pre-conference courses associated with our annual conference, the Leadership Institute, Review Course, and a bi-annual Principles and Practices in Biosafety Course.
The accrual of CEU's is based on contact time for any given course, completion of pre/post assessments, assignments, and evaluations. When a total of 10 contact hours has been met for a course 1.0 CEU's will be awarded. If contact time is less than 10, then the CEU's would reflect as such. For example, 4 contact hours would be awarded 0.4 CEU's.
